Burrows Lea Spring Fair

Saturday was the day of the Spring Fair at Burrows Lea Country House where my mum works.
Mum asked if I would like a stall to try and sell some of my homemade creations and I thought this was a great idea as any money made could go towards my Switzerland trip in the summer.

I have spent the last few weeks frantically making Pom Pom hair clips, see below and knitting dishcloths. Daisy made me some fudge to take too which was an absolute god send as I sold pretty much nothing. I'm taking it as a learning curve and the nature of where my mum works is all about 'healing' and 'massage' 'crystals' etc so I'm not too sure I had the right clientele for Pom Pom hair clips hahaha.

However, I haven't let it put me off and instead am going to work harder to create more exciting things to sell. Nanny came along to help and my number one fan Oscar was with us too who was an absolute diamond!
My Brown Owl (Lisa) and daughter; Fluffy Owl (Roni) were there doing face painting too and it was just lovely to spend time with some of my favourite people. So although no great profit, an enjoyable day and as Nanny has always said 'a learning curve!'

Bunting & Pom Poms

This weekend has been rather lovely! Friday night we went to The Britannia, one of our fave pubs in G-town to see some of our favourite people. We anticipated a few drinks but ended up having some great food and staying til 1am. I promptly deposited Daisy in bed in preparation for his work filled weekend.

Saturday I went to mum and dads and spent the day prepping items ready for a fair fayre show thing my mum is hosting where she works. There's gonna be a mix of stalls and I am hoping to sell some handmade bits to put towards my trip to Switzerland with the Guides in July! We spent the day making bunting and watching come dine with me in my old bedroom and today Daisy helped me streamline my Pom Pom hair clip making process!

What craft projects have you you got on the go?

Painting with Katy (nearly rhymes)

My pal Katy and I have been desperate to go pottery painting for quite some time so we took the plunge and booked a Sunday morning at our local studio in Farnham. After taking an absolute age choosing what to paint we spent the following three hours making a total mess haha! Here's some cute photos of us and the final product which I was determined David would hate but actual doesn't mind!!
We went to Ceramics Cafe in Farnham and they were super nice!

What do you think of my fish?

Is It Too Early To Be Talking About Christmas?

Daisy and I have been married since the 6th February this year and have been living in our flat since January 1st so this will be the first time we have had Christmas in our flat and the first time as a married couple - how soppy and exciting! In preparation for the sheer expense of Christmas (what with David being one of four, having seven nieces and nephews and a son) I decided, to his disgust, that I would start making Christmas decorations in August to try and balance out the cost.

I decided to make some felt tree decorations, taking inspiration from all of the beautiful designs on pinterest. I made the gingerbread man first, creating a pattern piece myself to start with. Since then, it has blossomed nicely with the most effective being the star I think. What do you think? Any suggestions for more designs?

Oscar's Minion - How to.

So, as I had mentioned in my previous post - I created a felt minion for Oscar to go alongside his birthday presents. I made the minion using a free pattern online from Lady Joyceley's Tumblr Page which is simply perfect which I came across on Pinterest! I was a bit apprehensive about creating something using a pattern for the first time but it was easy to use and follow and I really enjoyed the challenge!

This is the final minion which both Oscar and I were really pleased with.

The body pieces sew together to form a bullet shape - I did this part on the sewing machine and the remainder by hand. I used blanket stitch to attach everything to the body except where stitching was intended to be seen as per the pattern!

I decided to make felt eyes rather than use googly eyes so the whole minion was felt with some small black buttons on the front of his dungarees.

Such an enjoyable project and I can't wait to start my next. I would  love to know if anyone gives this a go or has also made a minion?

Oscar's Minion

So, yesterday was Oscar's 4th Birthday and a big event in the Portsmouth household. Unfortunately Daisy had to go to work during the day but Oscar's Mummy was holding a huge minion themed party for all of the family and his friends. During the day, my Mum, Dad, Nan and I went along to Osk's birthday party to help him celebrate. It was super cute and in the evening we got to take Osk for ice cream and let him open the presents from us.
I made Oscar a felt minion which is in the pictures below and he was so chuffed with it, I got a very big hug and thank you kiss! I will post about how I made it next.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend
